What does black witchcraft signify when viewed as a worldview, an identity, and a way of walking one's own path?

The path of the black witch leads towards one's core. It calls one to recognize their own will, to take responsibility for their choices, and to stand by them even when the environment offers no ready answers or affirmation. It is a path of incorruptibility and steadfastness – and thus not necessarily easy.

In the lecture, Elina Sjöblom opens up black witchcraft from a perspective where darkness is not something one needs to turn away from. It also signifies accepting one's own shadow and a space where nothing within oneself needs to be denied, rejected, or changed. Darkness can also be a protective and safe place where the external world quiets down and one's own core becomes more clearly visible.

A black witch can be at the forefront: moving towards the unknown, questioning established structures, and daring to step into areas where no one else has defined a ready route. At the same time, freedom implies responsibility. The stronger the witch stands behind their own power and will, the less they can transfer responsibility for their choices to others.

The lecture guides one to consider what steadfastness, responsibility, shadow, and one's own core mean on the witch's path – and why remaining true to one's core can also be the most demanding path.

Elina is the principal of the Witch Academy and the founder of the Pagan Centre. In her work, she builds a more visible and stronger position for witchcraft and pagan culture in Finland.
